Young Women & the Church

So ministry division have been encouraging young people, that’s those of you under 30, to get ordained into the Church of England. We think this is fantastic, but there seems to be a glitch, not many young women evangelicals are coming forward. There’s a day on June 15th this year in London to help address this issue, organised by Ministry Division with some London women vicar’s on board! Young women are encouraged to come to this from all around the country, not just London. So get your thinking caps on and encourage those young women you know who might just be the next Archbishop of Canterbury! To find out more go to the blog.

Our conference in 2013 is at Launde Abbey again. We are delighted to have Jane Morris vicar of St Gabriel Cricklewood as our main speaker. Trying to explain

I thought I would post up a recent blog on the issue of the vote on women bishops. I have struggled myself to know what to say at times. I think this is a really super response. There are others out there, so do post them up as comments. This is not the only view on the issue, but it is one view and I think full of grace and truth. Thanks fibre fairy.

5 Minutes with interview

We had a fantastic conference this year and it gave us the chance to interview a range of people. Beginning with Jema Ball, and I won’t write any more as I’ll let the interview speak for itself. Thank you to everyone who came to this years conference with Rachel Treweek as our speaker. We had a fantastic number of women at conference and a really brilliant time. Dear all I came across a super new blog by Rev Penelope Swithinbank, it aims to encourage and build up the church, and it certainly does that. You will find it on our links pages, or you can go directly to it here. Penelope does a range of activities including mentoring younger women clergy, so we will be hearing more from her in the future.

Great new interview with Christina Baxter (ex St John’s) has just gone up on our Brand New YouTube channel, AwesomenetworkTV, so check it out – though I’ve posted it up on here to you can see it on the Awesome pages as well. If you go to our YouTube channel you will see some further questions with Christina, so these are bite sized, 5 minutes of questions. If you know of someone who’d be good to interview, would like to be interviewed then give Tamsin a shout (or email) she’d love to get a number of these going ahead as time goes by. Conference is filling up fast

Our conference in October is doing well with bookings, so much so that we now only have spaces to share, but we can still take more people. It will be really super to have you all there, and so do get in touch if you’re coming on your own and this will put you off because we do have some delegates who’ve said they would share in those circumstances.

Hi all, I came across this great blog by Nancy Wallace, who’s a vocations adviser in the CofE and so I thought I’d pass it on, I’ve added it to our blog roll on the left, but I’m aware that putting out a post and sending it around Facebook and the rest helps to get these things known and heard. I’m looking for more blogs, in the post Easter low period, as we gather ourselves up for Ascension and the Queens Jubilee.

Which on another note what are you doing for the Queens Jubilee? Have you joined up with the Big Lunch or are you hiding in the rafters that day? If you get a chance maybe you could write up what is going to happen at your Big Lunch and let me know, with some pictures would be good.
